Ad technology vendor not declared

What Google's rule says

Google's stated rule is that the ad does not declare the use of a declarable, approved technology vendor. This is separate from calling an unapproved vendor — here the vendor is fine, the declaration is missing.

What actually causes it

  • A vendor added to the creative after it was declared, with no update to the declaration.
  • A declaration made for the campaign but not carried onto every creative in it.
  • A vendor that is approved but sits in the declarable category, which many teams assume means optional.
  • Trafficking handled by one team and vendor declarations by another.

How to fix it

Declare every vendor the creative calls, then keep the declaration in the same change process as the tag. Any edit that adds a host to the creative is a change to the declaration too.

The part that is not obvious

The distinction between this reason and an invalid fourth-party call is worth internalising, because the fixes point in opposite directions. Here the vendor is approved and the paperwork is missing, so the answer is to declare it and leave the creative alone. There the vendor is not approved, so the answer is to remove code and the declaration cannot help. Reading the reason as "a vendor problem" and going straight to the tag wastes the afternoon — declarable means required once you use it, not available if you want it.
